Hill Top (Hawkshead, United Kingdom)

Hill Top is a farm near Hawkshead in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Built in the 17th century it is best associated with the children’s author Beatrix Potter who purchased it in 1906 and lived there until her death in 1943. Following her death the house and its 34 acre working farm was left to the National Trust for future generations to enjoy. Hill Top has been in the care of the National Trust since 1944. The interior of the house has been left as it was when Beatrix Potter lived there and the flower beds and vegetables are still farmed as they originally were. Facilities include a gift shop and toilets, which are equipped for disabled visitors. Opening hours and visiting hours are available on the website.
