The Leeds Festival takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Between 1988 and 2007 it was a combined event with the Reading Festival. Both festivals were sponsored by Carling and collectively these two events were known as the Carling Weekend with many of the same acts appearing at both events on alternate days. In 2007 Carling withdrew its sponsorship and the 2008 event will now be known by its original name, the Leeds Festival. The festival has a capacity of 70,000 people and features live mainstream acts on the main stage and lesser known acts on various smaller stages. Day tickets for the 2007 festival cost £62.50 whilst full weekend tickets were £145 each. All tickets must be purchased in advance. Prices for the 2008 have not yet been announced.
