Formerly the family home of the Gascoigne family Lotherton Hall dates back to the 1540’s but was bequeathed to Leeds City Council who opened it as a museum in 1969. It houses the family’s collection of paintings, furniture, sculpture, pottery, silver, jewellery and porcelain together with a collection of Oriental and Victorian art and costume. Surrounding the house there are 66 acres of formal gardens and beyond these 100 more acres of landscaped grounds that includes a bird garden and a deer park. Access to the bird garden and grounds are free but car parking cost £3.50. The grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk. The house is closed during the winter but in the summer months it is open daily (except Monday). Admission charges for the house and formal gardens are: Adult -£2.93 Concession - £1.46 Child - £0.98 Family ticket - £4.89
