Chapeltown Park is a 23 acre park located about seven miles (12 kilometres) to the north east of Sheffield city centre. The land was given to Sheffield City Council in 1920 by Mrs Drew of Staindrop Lodge, who had married into the locally famous Newton Chambers family. The park officially opened on June 12, 1920 and contains areas of ancient woodland. There is also a bandstand, a children’s playground and several sculptures that have been created from dead tree stumps. The park is kept open at all times and entry is free.
