Babelsberg Palace, the summer residence of Emperor William I, is located in Babelsberg Park. The building was designed by Carl Friedrich Schinkel in the neo-gothic style; it was the first palace that was created in particular style in Europe. The palace can be visited during the summer time. The interior was mostly decorated in the same neo-gothic style as the exterior but only few of the original furnishings have survived. As part of the Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin, Babelsberg Palace has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
