The 124 hectare landscaped park was commissioned by Prince William and his wife Augusta. It is located along the Havel River, along the Tiefer See, on a hill that is also called Babelsberg. The park was designed by Peter Joseph Lenné in 1833 and later on re-designed as an English-style garden by Prince von Pückler-Muskau. Within the park you can find several buildings, such as the Babelsburg Palace and the Flatow Tower as well as an open air pool with a beach at the river. There are several entrances to the park; the admission is free.The park and its historical buildings are managed by the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten and are, as part of the Parks and Palaces of Potsdam and Berlin, listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
