Saint Mary and All Saints Church (Chesterfield, United Kingdom)

Built during the 13th and 14th Centuries, the Saint Mary and All Saints was finished in 1360. Legends surround why its spire became curved, giving it the name The Crooked Spire, but it is actually unseasoned wood used to construct it that is responsible. The Crooked Spire is the largest church in Derbyshire and is 70 metres in height. It leans by 2.89 metres from the natural centre. Another unusual feature of the spire is its twist. Tours of the Spire can be taken for £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children. These take place every Bank Holiday Monday and at other times by appointment. The Church is open from 9am to 5pm for visitors to look around when Church Services are not happening. There are a number of features inside the building, including a 9th Century font, a 17th Century chest, a Jacobean pulpit and the famous 750th Anniversary stained glass window. There is also a souvenir shop that is open from 10am to 4pm every day except Sundays. Service Times are: Sunday Services 8 am Holy Communion 10.30 am Sung Mass 6.30 pm Evensong Weekday Services Holy Communion is celebrated in the Parish Church at 12.15 pm-1 pm Monday/Friday 9.30 am-10.15 am Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday 5.30 pm-y pm Thursday Matins is said daily at 9 am, and Evensong at 5 pm (except Thursday)
