Originally sited on the Eddystone Rocks, this lighthouse was moved stone by stone to its present site on Plymouth Hoe in the late 1880s. Smeatons Tower has been Plymouth’s most famous landmark ever since. There are 93 steps to the top to see the panoramic view over the city and beyond. Opening hours are 10am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm Tuesday to Saturday and Bank Holiday Mondays (until Saturday 29 March 2008). Slightly longer opening hours apply during the summer season. The Tower is closed between Christmas and New Year.
