Shakespeares Globe Theatre (London, United Kingdom)

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre was founded by Sam Wanamaker, an American actor and director who wanted to make a more lasting memorial to Shakespeare. In 1970 he founded the Shakespeare Globe Trust, in 1987 the construction of the Globe began with 6 metre deep foundations, and was completed in 1997. The theatre is affiliated to four other Shakespeare Globe Centres throughout the world. The Globe Theatre is situated just 50 metres from the Millenium footbridge. The nearest tube stations are London Bridge, Southwark or Mansion House. Within the theatre there is a bar, a brasserie, which can be hired for private events, and the “coffee cart” for snacks. Tickets for performances can be booked through the Globe’s Online site.
