West Mersea Beach (West Mersea, United Kingdom)

West Mersea Beach is located along the Victoria Esplanade. The shingly beach offers shallow water and is famous for its hundreds of colourful beach huts. The water quality of the beach is controlled regularly and the beach is designated a “bathing beach”, but visitors should be careful as submerged stones and rocks can cause danger during low tides. There are strong tides and it can get very windy. West Mersea Beach offers a variety of beach sports, including kite-surfing, sailing and windsurfing. Ample free parking facilities are located along the Esplanade where also a number of cafes, toilets, refreshment stalls, picnic facilities and playgrounds can be found. The beach is well connected to the bus system and a direct connection to Colchester exists.
