Orsay (Paris, France)

Built next to the river Seine, in the heart of Paris, the Orsay museum was the first Parisian station to have an electric railway. It was inaugurated in 1986 by François Mitterand, after being classed as a national historical monument in 1978. After six years of restoration, the three floors host exhibitions of all kinds, a restaurant and a few shops. Opening hours are from 9am to 6pm, during the summer season. It costs (full fare) 7,50€ to enter, and is fully equipped for wheelchair access. The nearest train station is a couple of kilometres away.
