Chester Racecourse (Chester, United Kingdom)

Located on the banks of the River Dee Chester Racecourse is the oldest racecourse in Britain still in use. It dates from 1539 and there is a bar and restaurant on site called the 1539 restaurant to commemorate this fact. At just 1.6Km (one mile) long it is also one of the shortest horse racing circuits in the country. It is colloquially known as The Rodee and plays host to many major horse riding events throughout the year including The Cheshire Oaks, Chester Cup, Chester vase, Dee Stakes, Huxley Stakes and Ormonde Stakes.
