The Eastgate Clock stands on Chester’s ancient City Walls but wasn’t added until the end of the 19th century to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Since that time it has become a major landmark and is now the second most photographed clock in Britain, after London’s Big Ben. It is a turret type timepiece built to resemble a huge Grandfather Clock. It now has Grade 1 listed status and forms a part of the town’s Millennium Trail.
