Voodoo Experience (New Orleans, USA)

Since 9 years the Voodoo Experience is being held in the City Park in New Orleans on the weekend before Halloween. The 3 day event offers music, food, local crafts and culture and a mix of international stars and local musicians are waiting to entertain you on the two main stages and a number of smaller stages. Since its humble beginnings in 1999, when a mere 8.000 visitors attended the then one-day event, the festival has gained international recognition and nowadays sees more than 100.000 visitors each year. The festival has since been divided into three distinctive sections, Le Ritual, Le Flambeau and Le Carnival, each of them represents a different style of music. “Le Flambeau” concentrates on local musicians and the musical styles New Orleans is most associated with, “Le Carnival” entertains with circus acts, Indie bands and burlesque and “Le Ritual” offers mainstream music performed by international top acts. Artists who have performed here in the past include The Fugees, Sinead O’Connor, The Smashing Pumpkins, and many more. The line up for 2008 features R.E.M, Wyclef Jean , Joss Stone and others.
