Museum of the City of New York (New York, USA)

The Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) opened in 1923 to showcase the history of New York and its people. It is located on the “Museum Mile”, a section of Fifth Avenue which contains a number of other museums. The current building dates from 1930. Among the various paintings, works of art, books, decorative items and more, the visitor can see photographs by Stanley Kubrick. Several rooms from the house of John D Rockefeller have been recreated in the museum. Among the collections are artifacts from the New-York Police Department and Fire Service. The museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s days.
