The Picasso Museum, in the Gothic Quarters of Barcelona, was created in 1985 by connecting five ancient palaces together. The artist started his artistic career in the Catalan Capital, where he studied Art. The museum has over 35 000 works by Picasso, ranging in dates from 1890 to 1967. In particular, visitors can see many works from his youth, the complete “Las meninas” series, and some blue period paintings. In some rooms, works from Picasso’s personal collection can be seen, signed Cezanne, Matisse, Rousseau, Derain, Braque, Miro and some African art. Up to 1 million people a year visit the museum, and guided tours in English are available.
