Krongut Bornstedt (Potsdam, Germany)

Bornsted Crown Estate is a completely restored Italian style village, built for King Frederic William IV in 1867 and located just 400 metres from Sanssouci Palace. The king had, like many of the Prussian kings, a great interest and love for all things. The estate has undergone extensive restorations in 2002 and is now exactly how it looked in the 19th century. Visitors are having the chance here to find out more about traditional Prussian handicrafts. There is a goldsmith, a pottery, a bakery, a brewery and more, all are manufacturing their goods under the same conditions and with the same equipment they would have used 200 years ago. Further there is a restaurant on site and of course you are also welcome to try a glass of “Bornstedt Buffalo”, the produce of the brewery. The estate is also often host to exhibitions, concerts, markets and festivals. Bornstedt Crown Estate, together with other historical buildings, castles and parks in Potsdam and Berlin, is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
