The lack of catering at Hotel Hotel Catalunya is compensated for by a wealth of dining, drinking and shopping outlets nearby, plus breakfast discount vouchers are issued for exchange at a neighbouring cafe. The neighbouring Ciutat Vella district attracts seekers of Barcelona’s nightlife, tapas and shopping opportunities and the hotel is just an easy 5 minute walk from Sants railway station.

Wonderful Barcelona location.

Restaurants, shops an nightlife are all within easy reach. There are also nearby transport links, via the metro, to all areas of the city, plus the bus for sightseeing and airport trips.

Very accommodating and helpful, they’ll gladly advise you on places to visit and best value shops and restaurants. Cleaning, too, is thorough.

There is ‘some’ catering.

Who needs hotel catering when all the opportunities that Barcelona has to offer are just outside! There is, however, a very useful machine in the hotel that dispenses water, beer and hot drinks. Cheers!

The Barcelona rumble.

The metro passes nearby, if not immediately underneath, so some rooms are subject to a night time ‘tremble’. Higher rooms, though, suffer less from this factor and from noise in general.

Starvation breakfast.

There is very little choice at the café they direct you to. It doesn’t take too much effort though to find somewhere else. It’s all part of the fun of being in Barcelona.

Small complaints.

Rooms are cramped and on the small side. As in many hotels - and universally loathed by hotel guests - 2 single beds shoved together do not make a satisfactory double!
