Nessebar - Stariat Grad (Nesebar, Bulgaria)

Nessebar is a Bulgarian city, situated on the Black sea coast of Bulgaria. It is an ancient city with many museums and churches - the Church of St Sophia or the Old Bishopric, the Church of John the Baptist, Church of St John Aliturgetos and many others. At the entrance of the city there is very attractive wooden windmill from the middle of the 18th century. The first name, that Thracian gave to the town is Mesimvria (from Greek). After becoming a Greek colony, then Roman and from the 5th century, became one of the most important strongholds of the Byzantine Empire. The Bulgarian name of Nesebar or Mesebar appeared in the 11th century. Nessebar is also a major sea side resort, with Sunny Beach just to the north.
