Old Town (Sozopol, Bulgaria)

Die Altstadt von Sozopol, der ältesten Stadt am bulgarischen Schwarzen Meer, die vor ca. 2700 Jahren als altgriechische Kolonie Apollonia Pontica hieß, liegt auf einer Halbinsel am Rande der Bucht von Burgas. Eine Blumenallee verbindet die Altstadt mit der heutigen Stadt Sozopol. Seit 1974 steht die Altstadt von Sozopol unter Denkmalschutz. Das Stadtbild ist durch ca.180 charakteristische Schwarzmeerhäuser aus dem 17.-19. Jahrhundert und durch reich geschmückte alte Kirchen geprägt, die besichtigt werden können. Sozopol ist als Stadt der Küntsler berühmt. Bei einem Rundgang kann man improvisierte Künstlerausstellungen im Freien besichtigen sowie bei den Künstlern einkaufen. Die engen steingepflasterten Straßen und Blumenalleen der Altstadt sind ganz den Fußgängern überlassen - dort herrscht ein absolutes Parkverbot und immer reges Leben.
