Excellent Food and Ambience

The restaurant at Hotel Llanwenarth in Abergavenny is spectacular. The menu is carefully chosen with a variety of options for every type of guest, ranging from well cooked rump steak, mixed grill and lamb to fish platters, homemade soups, vegetarian specials such as carrot mash and fried potatoes, and staples such as lasagna, homemade breads and trifles. The desserts are exquisite and beautifully presented. There's also gentleman's tea and an extensive a la carte menu. Breakfast is delicious and has special rotating menus like the local favorite, “Early Bird.” The chef also accommodates special requests for birthdays, Valentine's Day and other get togethers. If you dine in the evening, the wait staff will serve you extensive drinks by the fire while your meal is being prepared. The dining room has stunning views of the Usk Valley and mountains.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Older TVs

The rooms have older televisions with limited channels.

negative:

Dated Decor

The hotel is in an older building so the style is old fashioned and a bit dated. The whole building and grounds though are well maintained.

negative:

Rooms Can Run Cold

The rooms can be cold at night in the fall or early spring so check if the management can turn the heating on or provide you with blankets.
