The Horse and Hound Country Inn is known for its good food and nice selection of wines. The food and atmosphere makes the meal a delightful experience. The bar is well-stocked, drinks are excellent and prices are also not exorbitant.
The inn is located a few miles away from Hawick and is an ideal stopover when visiting Kelso, Hawick, Jedburg and other border towns. You will enjoy cycling or biking on the roads around this quaint pub. Also, a good place to walk around and explore the scenic beauty of area away from hustle and bustle of city. Rooms are very comfortable and clean with a cosy feel.
A few guests felt that the walls are very thin, due to which the voices from other rooms may disturb you. Though there is no noise from main road, it was get a little noisy on Saturday night in the pub downstairs.
Some guests felt that the inn needs a revamp, as the carpets are stained, decor is dated and floors are squeaky. However, the inn is under renovation and a few areas have been revamped.
Some guests reported a few minor issues like lack of Children's menu, carpeted bathroom instead of tiles, firm mattress etc. However, these are minor issues and do not affect the overall stay, which is memorable.
