Fourposter Lodge is a family-run, Victorian property dating from the 1860s that offers B&B accommodation and attractive period features. Both the centre of York and the University of York Campus are under a mile away. Each of the eight rooms is non-smoking and features a lovely four-poster bed. Creature comforts include a TV, a radio alarm clock and a hospitality tray. Some rooms provide an en-suite toilet and bath/shower while others have separate private facilities. Wi-Fi access is available and free off-road parking is offered on a first come first served basis. Guests can also request use of ironing facilities. Fourposter Lodge serves a delicious complimentary breakfast consisting of various cereals, toast and jam and cooked elements including sausage, bacon, eggs and kippers. Tea, coffee and fruit juice are provided. A trip into York’s city centre is a step back in time: sights include The Shambles, a collection of delightful tea rooms and timber-framed houses, and York Minister, a magnificent Gothic cathedral.
