Lincoln Memorial (Washington D.C., USA)

The Lincoln Memorial is located in Washington DC and is situated on the National Mall. It was built to honour the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is accessible by bus, bicycle, car, taxi or metro. There is no parking at the memorial but metered parking is available nearby. The building is like a Greek Doric temple in design and houses a large seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln. The architect who designed it was Henry Bacon and the sculptor was Daniel Chester French. It was dedicated on May 30, 1922. It is up a flight of stairs then the view is over the reflecting pool to the Washington Monument. The Lincoln Memorial is open 24 hours a day. However Rangers are only on duty to answer questions from 9:30am. to 11:30pm every day. There are no admission charges.
