Church of the Savior on Blood (St Petersburg, Russia)

Die Auferstehungskirche erinnert mit ihren vielen farbigen und goldenen Kuppeln an die Basiliuskirche in Moskau. Das Gotteshaus wurde an der Stelle gebaut, an der der Zar Alexander II. 1881 einem Anschlag zum Opfer fiel. Die Kirche wurde von 1883 bis 1887 erbaut und man scheute weder Kosten noch Mühen: Die Wände im Innern, die Säulen und die Kuppeln sind mit Mosaiken bedeckt, der Fußboden ist aus italienischem Marmor. 1930 wurde die Kirche geschlossen und sollte 1941 abgerissen werden, aber der 2. Weltkrieg verhinderte es, da die Kirche als Leichenhalle gebraucht wurde. 1968 wurde sie unter Denkmalschutz gestellt und befand sich in einem schlimmen Zustand. Sie wurde komplett renoviert und 1997 wieder eröffnet. Sie dient nicht mehr als Gotteshaus, sondern ist heute ein Museum. Die Kirche ist sehr auffällig, da es das einzige Gebäude weit und breit ist, dass “nicht-westlich” ist. Öffnungszeiten: im Sommer: täglich, außer Mittwoch, von 10.00 - 20.00 Uhr im Winter: täglich, außer Mittwoch, von 11.00 - 19.00 Uhr
