The Chartres Cathedral has been proclaimed a World Heritage Site and is described as being “the finest example in all of France” of Gothic Architecture with its 152 stained-glass windows and centuries old wooden carvings. It is well known for its “two contrasting spires” and features a labyrinth as well as “the widest nave in France”. The current Cathedral was inaugurated in the year 1260. Open daily to the public from 8:30am-7:30pm. Entrance is free and guided tours, at a fee, can be arranged.
