Although the Brisbane Airport officially opened in 1988, the suburb of Brisbane Airport wasn’t established until 2001. Prior to that, the area was known as Eagle Farm. This name is still associated with Eagle Farm Airport, the area’s main airport since 1925, and Eagle Farm Racecourse, which is actually located in the nearby town of Ascot.

Brisbane Airport is located about 14 kilometres from the Brisbane central business district, which can be easily reached by train in about half-an-hour. There are two railway stations at the airport itself, one in the domestic terminal and one in the international terminal.
