Hotel The Portland (Folkestone, United Kingdom)

Guests staying at the Portland are an eight-minute stroll from the beaches and across from the cliffs. The hotel also makes for an easy departure for Europe via either the tunnel or the ferries.

Guests enjoyed the hotel’s buffet breakfast which offered both a mix of full English and continental offerings such as scrambled eggs, hot croissants, fruit juice, yoghurt and more.

The staff at the hotel are helpful and friendly to assist guests with any problems, requests or advice regarding the local area and its sights.

The Portland is set within an old building and with that come some inherent issues. Guests mentioned problems with heating while others said water pressure was lacking in showers.

With the pub downstairs noise will filter through to upstairs at times. Guests occasionally found rooms and nights noisy. If you are a light sleeper, request a room away from the bar, to the back of the hotel.

Some guests said the rooms were too small for their liking and expectations with little room for bags. However others found the rooms suitable to their needs.
