Positive Reviews

positive:

Lovely Unpretentious Spot

This is a a superbly-equipped locale with a popular pub, real log fireplace and comfortable accommodations. Peacefully situated in central Hannington, it's set back enough to be relaxing without being too far from the attractions of lively Swindon. Cosy furnishings and an interesting menu keep locals and guests coming back again and again. Plenty of parking and hot or cold options for breakfast. Sunday Lunch features several meats, puddings, cheeses and lovely vegetables with gravy, while favourite dinner dishes include the steak and ale pie, iron flat sirloin steak and tasty assorted ales.

positive:

Cosy Rooms

Some rooms are in the original building and others in renovated annexes, all adequately furnished and comfortable for most. Good bathrooms with fantastic shower pressure, tasteful decor, high ceilings with exposed architectural features, spotlessly kept and of a good average temperature.

positive:

First Class Staff

The host is dynamite, always friendly and socialising with the guests. Fantastic staff are welcoming and efficient throughout.

Negative Reviews

negative:

No Daytime Pub

This pub closes during the daytime, re-opening in the early evening hours. Some didn't care for this schedule. The Freke Arms is five minutes' drive away and opens at noon if you absolutely cannot wait.

negative:

Wi-Fi Woes

Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms (nor is it advertised to be) and mobile phone signals are typically weak in bedroom areas as well. Plan accordingly.

negative:

Overpriced Food

You may feel the meals are a bit on the expensive side, especially considering portions are smaller than some might be expecting. Some wished there a few more items for the breakfast selection as well.
