Melbourne Cottage Guest House is well positioned, in that it is near the town centre and its amenities, but still in a quiet street. The lake is a five minute stroll down the hill and there are lots of activities in the area, including hiking and cycling.
The traditional English breakfast here is delicious and will set you up nicely for the day ahead.
The staff at this hotel are brilliant and can't do enough for you. They will also happily take the time to give you advice on the best things to see and do in the local area and how best to travel around Windermere.
The Wi-Fi at Melbourne Cottage Guest House is pretty poor. It can be hard to connect and, if you do manage to get online, you might find it to be incredibly slow and sluggish. The whole experience can be very frustrating.
Some of the guestrooms at this property are somewhat on the small side. There isn't much space to spread yourself out. The same can be said of the bathrooms and the showers.
Along with the bathrooms being quite small, another problem comes from the fact that the water pressure in the shower is pretty weak. Also, while the toiletries are free, they aren't especially generously sized.
