Khronos is a boutique hostel set in a neoclassic building in Barcelona’s Eixample district. All rooms are air conditioned and include free Wi-Fi, an in-room safe, complimentary bottled water, private bathroom with hairdryer. 24-hour room service is also available. The hotel features a roof terrace and provides tour/ticket assistance and concierge services. For an additional fee, laundry/dry cleaning services, parking and access to an exclusive local gym as well as the Barcelona Touristic Bus are available. Free Wi-Fi is available in all common areas. A buffet breakfast is offered to guests at a surcharge. There is also an on site bar/lounge. Khronos is within a 20-minute walk of Placa de Catalunya and the Sagrada Familia Basilica. There is a bus stop around the corner with access to several bus lines, and Diagonal metro station is a 10-minute walk away.
Khronos is well placed for seeing the main sites of Barcelona by metro as well as on foot. The Diagonal metro station is just 10-minutes away. If you enjoy strolling through historic cities, you can also walk to sites such as Sagrada Familia in 15-minutes, Placa de Catalunya in 20-minutes, and from there continue another 10-minutes to Las Ramblas. The local area also offers many lovely cafes, bars and restaurants which feel ‘neighbourly’ rather than ‘touristy’.
Although Khronos has the title of ‘hostel’, the accommodation offers more of a hotel experience. The rooms are beautifully decorated and serviced by housekeeping daily. The private bathrooms are clean and well presented. The roof top terrace provides a pleasant atmosphere in which to relax.
The staff are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the local area. Assistance is readily given for travelling around Barcelona as well as recommendations for places to dine.
Khronos offers nine rooms over four different categories. Some guests were disappointed to find that the size of their room did not match the photos they had seen. The rooms were described as very small with minimal space to move. The bathrooms were also found to be of a small size.
The sound of traffic was disturbing to some guests who found it difficult to sleep soundly through the noise. Other guests complained that the walls were ‘thin’ and that the sounds of neighbouring guests was quite loud.
While air conditioning is provided, it it not possible for guests to regulate the temperature themselves. Some guests found this to be an inconvenience.
