William Ricketts Sanctuary (Melbourne, Australia)

Located about an hour from Melbourne, the William Ricketts Sanctuary consists of approximately four acres of gum trees and ferns. Throughout there are waterfalls and more than ninety sculptures by William Ricketts, depicting aboriginal culture. Visitors can also see the original kiln which was used to produce the ceramic sculptures and there is an audio-visual display relating to the artist as well as a gallery and souvenir shop. Although eating and drinking is disallowed within the sanctuary, there is an adjacent licensed cafe. Access for disabled visitors is limited due to the narrow paths. The sanctuary can be reached by bus from Croydon Station and is open daily from 10h00 to 16h30, with an entry fee of $6.70 for adults.
