Tampa Theatre (Tampa, USA)

The Tampa Theatre, situated in the heart of downtown, was designed by architect John Eberson. When opened in 1926 it was one of the most elaborate “movie palaces” in America. With a mix of styles (Florida Mediterranean, Byzantine and Baroque) its interior represents a Mediterranean courtyard complete with old world statuary, flowers, and gargoyles over which float clouds and twinkling stars in the night sky. It has a fully operational three manual Mighty Wurlizter Theatre Organ which has 1200 pipes. The theatre was taken over and renovated in 1978 by the Arts Council and now shows new and classic films and hosts concerts. It has seating for 1,446 people. TICKET PRICES: Adult: $8.50 Senior, Student, Matinee: $6.50 Box office open Weekdays: 10am - 5pm Evenings & weekends: between 1/2 hour before the first showtime and 1/2 hour after the last showtime There is metered parking (free after 5pm and at weekends) A parking lot is available on Ashley Street
