This church was built in 986 and burned in 1176. Later a new Romanesque church was built but the present one in gothic syle was started in 1425 and completed in 1497. The building was damaged during the World Wars. The belfry was left unfinished because of the instability of the subsoil. The complex was recognised as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. Opening times: from Tuesday to Friday 10:00a.m - 04:45p.m.; Saturdays 10:00a.m. - 04.15p.m.; Sundays and public holidays 02:00p.m. - 04:45p.m.; Mondays 10:00a.m. - 04:45 p.m. The admission ticket for the Treasury of Saint-Peter is also valid for the Municipal Museum Vander kelen-Mertens.
