Gallia Placidia (386-452) gave the order to built this mausoleum that is designed in the shape of a cross. It’s cupola and vault is entirely covered with mosaics for which it became famous as they re the best preserved in the area. There are 3 sarcophagi which belong to Gallia Placidia, her husband Emperor Constantinus III and Emperor Valentian III.
