Eurasia Marathon (Istanbul, Turkey)

In 1973 a newspaper wanted to organize a marathon from Asia to Europe on the Boshoporus Bridge. But their idea was not realized. Then some German tourists were running on the bridge in 1st April 1979. Many of people thought that it was just a joke but after this day people thought about organizing every year a marathon there. And in 1979 Istanbul Büyüksehir Belediyesi organized this marathonfor the first time.The marathon mostly happened in the beginning of October takes usually place in early October.
