Traditional Blackpool hospitality is at its best here. Unpretentious, yet obviously lovingly cared for, the hotel is exceptionally clean and the welcome from the hosts is warm and welcoming.

No ‘buffet' nonsense here! They serve your freshly cooked breakfast choices at the table. Service is prompt, efficient and courteous.

Sounds too good to be true, particularly when many hotels now charge guests to park up. You do need to book your space in advance though because of the lack of available spaces. The price you pay for not doing this is the budget swallowing costs of the public pay and display car parks. A major ‘plus' about Blackpool in general and West Vale in particular is that you don't need the car anyway! Find a space, lock it up and leave it! Walk to many town centre attractions, or get a bus, taxi or tram. Much easier!

Beds are really uncomfortable; mattresses are old beyond belief so you can feel the springs whenever you move. Say goodnight to any thought of uninterrupted sleep!

Why is dirty laundry piled up in public areas for all to see! This goes on for days! They are obviously cutting down on laundry costs because very few towels are supplied and the cleanliness of some laundry is questionable.

With 14 en-suite bedrooms, something had to ‘give' to create the en-suite demands of today's market. So, to create the bathroom, the room size has been reduced. Consequently, some rooms here are decidedly cramped.
