The Bahamas is a family-run guesthouse, a short walk from the sea-front and railway station in the south Devon resort of Torquay. There are ten en-suite bedrooms available, including a family room. For an added bit of luxury, guests can upgrade to one of the two very spacious premium rooms. These come with a sofa, tub chairs, 32 inch flat-screen TV and super king size bed. The Bahamas offers free off-road parking and Wi-Fi. A full English breakfast is served on demand each morning for a supplement. Guests can also enjoy typical seaside fare on the sea front – a short walk away. Guests can get to the beach within ten minutes and wander along the promenade towards the marina and shopping area. The English Riviera Centre and the historical Torre Abbey, with its museum and award-winning tropical gardens, are also close by.
Guests love the relatively quiet location where the guesthouse is found. It is away from the buzz and noise of the seafront and town centre, yet only a five-minute short stroll away. You can get to Torquay's lovely harbour by foot easily enough too and the railway station is also within ten minutes' walk.
Guests seemingly appreciate, more than anything else, the safe off-road parking offered by the guesthouse. You don't have to worry about finding a space in the roads around.
Guests having chosen, or having been upgraded to, the premium rooms are amazed by not only its comfort and facilities, but also its immense size. The rooms are spacious and clean with a lovely very comfortable bed and huge flat-screen TV.
Whilst having Internet access in a guesthouse is seen as a bonus, many guests have problems accessing it. The signal is very weak, rendering it pretty useless at the end of the day.
Guests wishing to take advantage of the onsite breakfast are aggrieved that they only have a small 45 minute window - between 8:30 and 9:15 - to do so . If you arrive at 9:15 you're too late and you can't eat. Guests would prefer that the service starts earlier and lasts longer - especially as the breakfast room can get pretty cramped.
Guests sometimes find that they can hear other guests just a bit too easily. This seems especially apparent for those staying on the ground-floor - you can hear people walking overhead and up and down the stairs. They would recommend to ask for a first floor room if you have the choice.
