The Magpie Cafe is one of the most famous restaurants in the UK, outside of London. Unlike the majority of other well known restaurants the Magpie specialises specifically in seafood and local dishes. Its most famous dish is traditional fish and chips. The restaurant opened in 1939 and the building itself dates from 1750. The location is at the edge of the harbour where most of the food served here is caught daily. There are also views of St Mary's Church and the Abbey. The long distance walk "The Cleveland Way" passes close to this restaurant.
