The Hotel Hotel Metropol is a 3-star establishment in classic French style that is quietly located within a very few minutes' walk of the Gare du Nord, and thus well placed for visitors wishing to enjoy the pleasures of Paris. Guests can choose from single, double or twin, and triple bedrooms, all are equipped with en-suite bath/shower facilities including hair dryers, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi Internet connection and complimentary toiletries. The Metropol Hotel is well located for visitors who wish to explore Paris making use of the Metro and buses, it is particularly convenient for travellers travelling by Eurostar or linking by rail to other cities as it is within a short walk of the Gare du Nord. It is considered to be good value for travellers who are on a limited budget.
The rooms on the higher floors benefit from being above the noise of traffic, and the lift was appreciated by guests. The friendly helpfulness of the staff was remarked on by a number of guests, in one case they were allowed to check in well before the advertised time, and in another visitors from Vancouver were allowed to leave some luggage here for two days as they went to visit England.
For families travelling to Disneyland it is very convenient that the bus going there sets off at 8:00 am daily from just in front of the hotel.
It is evident that the hotel is in need of modernising, including the renewal and replacement of towels, and general equipment. Visitors from the USA had to request a replacement hair dryer as the original one supplied was taped up and gave them a shock. Others reported faulty shower heads, torn curtains and frayed bed linen; the lack of air conditioning needs to be addressed.
Toiletries had not been supplied, and the shower lacked a curtain. The breakfast was not very inspiring, better was available outside.
Reports of serious shortcomings in Summer 2014 included the presence of bedbugs, and in January 2014 there was a complaint by a visitor from Greece that their bank card suffered unauthorised transactions immediately following their stay. The police were informed.
