Ellerbrook House is a family owned establishment sited on a quiescent street. This B&B is great for travellers who desire to delve into nature and relax with plenty of activity not too far away. Guests will find plenty to do as there are shops, restaurants, and cafés just a few minutes away. Spacious rooms come with free Wi-Fi, TV, en suite bathroom/private bathroom, and tea and coffee making utensils. Guests are provided free parking. Climbing, cycling, and hiking ventures are possible in the surrounding area. A complimentary breakfast with produce from the locals is provided daily. Packed lunches are offered as well. The village centre is a five minute stroll from the Ellerbrook House. Just under one mile from the A591 and 13-minutes from the National Rail trains, the B&B is also close to the Old Laundry Theatre, World of Beatrix Potter, and the Lake National Park.
The breakfast is something to remember at this B&B. Much is said about the healthy local produce used; and you can really taste the freshness, and the gluten free toast provided. The variety is decent for such a small establishment.
The hospitality of the owners is on par with first class hotels. You will be pampered, assisted with any issues, given good tips for the area, and enjoy a spanking clean well equipped room to relax in.
The area is lovely. It's easy to get around either on foot or by car. Parking is free and right in front, so you won't have to be concerned about walking long distances if you have a lot of luggage, or in case of bad weather.
The B&B owners give their kids right of passage throughout the place. For example, there have been instances where the children are jumping all over a visitor's bed while they spoke with the owner. In other instances, the kids make an appearance in the breakfast room and take the pleasure to fiddle with your cutlery in their pyjamas while you are eating. All this takes place while the owner is clearing the tables. It can be a bit off putting. Not because you don't enjoy children, but the mischief feels like they are intruding on your “private space” as a visitor.
Though the bathroom area is well equipped, the shower water pressure is weak. So don't expect a waterfall while taking a shower.
Perhaps new mattresses should be considered? If you are in a double-bed you can easily feel the movement of the other person.
