If you want to escape the stress of the city, this is a nice alternative. The grounds are lovely and the lodging is quiet. On a chilly day, the common area with a roaring fireplace is perfect and the onsite restaurant is convenient for those who want to stay put.
Each of the rooms is different, but all offer a comfortable and cosy stay. They are all nicely decorated with modern finishes and the baths have that same functionality and design. The staff is friendly and welcoming and it's a nice stay all around.
The honesty bar is quite nice and saves on trips out for evening cocktails. The lodging provides complimentary toiletries and soft drinks as well. There are several options for breakfast. Some rooms even offer rolltop baths overlooking the garden.
The lodge is very small with no true amenities. The facilities are nice, but trend more toward the cosy than luxurious. Also, the restaurant is not open during the week so the pleasure of the visit varies according to when you stay.
While there is easy access to a major roadway, you'll need to use it to see or do anything. The inn has no places of interest within easy walking distance and the lodging itself is quite hard to find.
Business travellers won't be charmed here. The Wi-Fi is very slow and there are no work desks in the room. Reception isn't always staffed and prior arrangements might have to be made when checking in or out.
