The hotel is obviously well tuned to the needs of guests and breakfast and dinner choices are quite impressive. More important, though, is the fact that dishes, mainly with a traditional theme, are served piping hot. Guests staying here don't need to sample the local restaurants!
This elevated position affords glorious views of the St. Ives area and the sea. It's worth remembering, though, that St. Ives is a very busy place and popular with the partying younger generation. You can join in if you want, but this elevated position is away from all the noise. Best of both worlds really.
The welcome from staff is always warm and genuine. The climate isn't always warm in Cornwall - far from it - but these rooms are always toasty and welcoming.
The hotel does cater for large groups of ‘mature' coach party guests, so there is a SAGA type atmosphere on occasions ...'send all grannies away'! Lots of laughs but a bit disconcerting for youngsters out for a good time with their own crowd.
They'll charge you for the Wi-Fi ... but don't bother; it's not very good anyway. The hotel tariff is quite cheap but the price you pay is reflected in that room cleaning isn't all that it should be.
Elderly and disabled guests suffer as the result of steps up to the main entrance and further steps in the dining room and bar areas. It's the price you pay for a spectacular, elevated position; but it's one that some may not wish to contemplate.
