Sofiyska katedrala Sveta Nedelia (Sofia, Bulgaria)

Sofia Cathedral Sveta Nedelya (St. Sunday) is an active Orthodox church located in the very heart of Sofia. The square Sv. Nedelya is near the President Palace and Council of Ministry and just front of Sheraton hotel. The church was built in the tenth century and from that time till the mid-nineteenth century it is was a wooden building. In 1856 the old building was demolished and construction began with the help of donations, but shortly before graduation it was again destroyed by an earthquake. Construction resumed in 1863 and this time it is completed. In 1925 an attack destroyed a large part of the roof. After reconstruction and the same time extension, the building reaches its shape as it is today. The church is open for visitors every day from 9 to 5.30 PM.
