Salt and Pepper Shakers Museum (El Castell de Guadalest, Spain)

The Salt and Pepper Shakers Museum in El Castell de Guadalest was established in May 2010 and is the only one of its kind in Europe. The owner, Andrea Ludden, has a similar museum in the USA. Always fascinated by the variety and creativity in the design of shakers, she set up her first museum when her private collection outgrew her home. The Guadalest museum has a display of 20,000 shakers from all over the world, from the 19th century to the present day. The designs reflect a range of different cultures and the fashions of the society that produced them, and there is no limit to their inventiveness. The museum is located in the centre of Guadalest. Opening hours are 10am to 7pm and there is a small entrance fee.
