Peter Lougheed Provincial Park (Kananaskis Village, Canada)

Peter Lougheed Provincial Park near Kananaskis Village is one of the five provincial parks in Kananaskis Country, in the foothills of the Rockies. The Peter Lougheed Park, named after the premier of Alberta from 1971 to 1985, is one of the largest in Alberta covering more than 500 square kilometres. At the southern end of the Park are the two Kananaskis lakes and the whole area is noted for its dramatic landscapes of mountains and rivers. There is a range of outdoor activities for participants at all levels available in both summer and winter: skiing, fishing, riding, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing. Six camping grounds accessible to vehicles provide a range of amenities. The Park has a Visitor Centre with details about the area’s natural and historical development, together with trail maps and practical information.
