Old Government House (Safranbolu, Turkey)

The Old Government House of Safranbolu is located on a hill, on the same location were once the castle of Safranbolu stood.The remains of the original castle have been destroyed at the end of the 19th century to make way for the new castle. The two story building was finished in 1904 and was used as a military, civilian and judicial administration centre until it was destroyed by a fire in 1976. The building was completely restored by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and is now home to History Museum of the town. The Old Government House is one of the many listed buildings in Safranbolu that have earned the town its recognition as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
