Kileciler Mansion (Safranbolu, Turkey)

The Kileciler House is one of the many Ottoman houses for which the town is renowned. The corner house, which links Kışlayanı and Akpınar was built by Hacı Mehmet Efendi in 1845. The building has stone foundations while the upper parts are timber framed.It features a Harem (women’s quarters) and a Selamlık (men’s quarters), these parts of the house each had their own entrance, located in different streets. The Kileciler House has been restored by the Turkish Ministry of Culture, it is now home to a museum that showcases the traditional lifestyle in the area. The Kileciler House is one of the many historical buildings in Safranbolu that have earned Safranbolu the entry to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The museum is open daily during the summer
