Miodowa Street (Warsaw, Poland)

Miodowa Street is a branch of Krasinki Square and can be reached from the Stare Miasto in Warsaw. It is perpendicular to Senatorska Street, which then joins four squares: Zamkowy, Teatralny, Piłsudskiego and Bankowy. In the eighteenth century thirteen residencies stood on Miodowa Street. Today, only half this number of palaces and grand houses are still standing. As most of the buildings have been taken over by governmental bodies the street is less of a tourist destination than it once was but there is still a great deal to see here. There is the Krakow Bishops’ Palace, decorated as it is with allegories relating to science and war, and the Małachowski Palace with its rococo facade and courtyard . The street is long with wide pavements and always busy with traffic. The easiest way to reach Miodowa Street is by catching a tram number 13, 23, or 26 to the Stare Miasto and walking from there.
