Military Museum (Istanbul, Turkey)

The Military Museum is located in the area of Harbiye in a former military academie which counts Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as one of its former students. The museums showcases artefacts of Military History from the Ottoman era until WW2 and to be seen are the hall of tent with a collection of embroidered and silk tents, leather and metalwork costumes, armour and more. Every afternoon between 15.00-16.00 one can enjoy a performance of the Mehter Takimi, a military band which had its origins in 1289. The museum is open from 10.00-17.00 from Wednesday to Sunday.
